Scissors Clock
This lovely Scissors clock was built by Master GearWizologist Ken Duffy. He calls his "Edward", and has creatively added reflective, mirrored plastic to the clock's hands and the lower pendulum bobs, adding reflection as well to their movement. The Scissors light, airy design, with the gentle motion of the double pendulums crossing and uncrossing scissors-like, is mesmerizing and never fails to draw the viewer's eye. |
Besides being a wonderfully visual kinetic sculpture, the Scissors clock is self-winding using an onboard nine volt battery. It can also be powered by using a wall transformer, or better yet, by using solar power, as Ken has done with his build. However you do it, the Scissors' automatic rewind system keeps the pendulums in constant motion. |
This is a 3D rendering done by my Russian friend and master clock builder, Oleg. This 3D perspective allows for a beautifully simple visualization of the entire project. |
