Tiki Punch Class |
Tiki Punch by Lisa Boyer 2005 |
When I was a little girl
in California in the early 1960’s, my
favorite attraction at Disneyland was the Enchanted Tiki Hut. I loved the
talking birds, the goofy singing flowers that dropped out of the ceiling,
the dancing waters, and most of all, the chanting Tikis! I would get goose
bumps when the “rain” started up, and those ooky Tikis surrounding
me would start pounding on their drums and singing the “Hawaiian
War Chant.” After the show, ice-cold pineapple juice was available
from the little cart in the courtyard; how wonderful it tasted on a hot
summer day. And how amazing it is that I ended up living here on Kauai,
sewing Tikis in a Hula Hut of my own! |
