Supplies for Class:
1. Sewing machine with sharp needle, preferably a 90/14 or 80/12. If you haven't
changed your needle in a while, now is the time. Don't forget your 1/4" foot
or guide, foot pedal, bobbins and manual (if you need it).
2. Rotary cutter, ruler and mat. If you have any small rotary rulers, you may
want to bring a handy small one in addition to your large one. A square-up
type ruler would be good too, if you have one.
3. A small sheet of gridded template plastic
4. A marker capable of making visible marks on the fabric you will be using
for your hut roofs. Suggestions: Fine Bic pen, silver pencil, regular #2 pencil,
black or "milky" type gel pen.
5. General sewing supplies: straight pins, a seam ripper, fabric scissors and
paper scissors, neutral cotton thread
6. Fabric Requirements:
Background (sky color or whatever you wish): 2 yards
Border (5 inch border, finished): 1 yard if pieced border is okay, 2 yards
if you want continuous
Binding: 1/2 yard
Four large Sashings: (2 inches wide, finished) 1/2 yard total (each sashing
piece is approx. 2 1/2 inches X 37inches)
Binding: 1/2 yard
Backing: 2 1/4 total, pieced (need 50X55 size)
Batting: 50X55 piece
Various scraps for houses, chimneys, doors and windows. Scraps for moon and
sun How much? Who knows?? Ha! Pick bright prints for the houses and roofs.
Choose batiks, solids or tone-on-tones for windows, doors and chimneys. Bright
yellow scraps for sun and moon.
