Kauai is a beautiful
island in the Hawaiian Chain. It's about 35 miles in diameter and home
to about 50,000 people. The island is also a very old and very diverse
place (diverse in race, culture, and geography). I took the above picture
in Kilauea, an area on the northern side of the island where it rains a
lot (thus the lush green environment). However, on the west and south sides
of the island where it doesn't rain very often, the environment can be
very dry and dusty. We even have a massive canyon on the southwestern side.
In short, Kauai is a nifty place.
